The French Resistance was extremely beneficial for the Allies, and helped them to succeed in Western Europe during WWII, especially during D-Day in June of 1944. The French Resistance supplied the Allies with secretive progress reports against the Axis Powers and also helped to distract and disturb the German army. For example, they disconnected communication lines between the German military. They were made up of Jews, the French, Armenians, socialists, communists, women, and Vichy collaborators.
They revolted against the Germans by going on strike to prevent the production and distribution of coal mining. Many French Resistance fighters sent explosives to the Axis powers, this was just one of their many ways of sabotage. They also stole dynamite from Germans, ruined the German train tracks, and stole or wrecked equipment.
After the invasion of the Soviet Union in June of 1941, communists in the French Resistance used guerrilla warfare against the Germans who had took control of French cities. One of the many famous French Resistance members was Pierre-Georges Fabien, who assassinated a German officer, Paris Métro. This angered the Germans, which led to them executing hundreds of innocent French prisoners. With the members of the French Resistance, and all their determination to succeed, the allies won World War II and France was finally free.
